About this statute
Passport applicants must attach the required photo(s) to the application; temporary passport applicants must attach two photos. The photo may be black and white or in colour, and it must be no more than six months old. Passport photos must be 47 mm high and 36 mm wide, and the distance from the crown to the chin tip must be 32–36 mm, with a limited under-11 exception. Photograph subjects must be shown facing forward, with the head straight and centered in the image, shoulders aligned with the face, and gaze directed at the camera. Photos must show a neutral facial expression, open eyes, and no open mouth or squinting; head coverings are generally not allowed, with exceptions for religious reasons or customary folk costume. Bakgrunden på bilden ska vara enfärgad, jämn, neutral och ljusare än ansiktet, utan skuggor eller andra människor/föremål.
