About this statute
For fixed-term appointments of a civil servant, the appointment letter must state why the appointment is for a limited time, and the appointment should cover the full period unless special reasons justify otherwise. A public authority must treat its officials impartially and not without cause discriminate on listed grounds. An official requesting sick leave for illness must prove the illness with specified medical evidence, with limited short-illness flexibility, and the government may allow further relief by decree in limited cases. A civil servant’s employment ends automatically at the end of the relevant month if the person has been granted full invalid pension indefinitely. The authority that decided a suspension from service must follow the reasons for the suspension, and if circumstances change it must make a new decision if needed. A civil servant may seek review of certain dismissal, suspension, and related government decisions; a review request to the civil servant board must be filed within 30 days, and authorities must attach review instructions to eligible decisions.
