Statute overview

About this statute

Savings banks and savings bank companies are treated as deposit banks under the Credit Institutions Act, and their special purpose is to promote saving. The savings bank may distribute profit only within the stated limits, and it may not use profit for savings-promoting or public-benefit purposes without Financial Supervisory Authority consent in the specified loan-repayment situation. When the merger is registered, the transferring savings bank’s assets and liabilities pass to the acquiring savings bank without liquidation, and the transferring savings bank is dissolved.
