Statute overview

About this statute

Chapter 1 concerns the scope of application. This provision says the law covers the right to work as an authorized translator and the examination system for authorized translators. A person may be approved as an authorized translator only if the person meets the stated reliability, age, capacity, residence, and examination requirements. A person who meets the conditions may be authorized to work as an authorized translator for five years, must give a written assurance before authorization, and may seek extensions of up to five years at a time if the person has worked as an authorized translator and still meets the conditions. A certificate must be issued for an authorized translator, stating the language pair the translator may translate between. The Council of State may issue further rules about how the certificate is issued, its contents, and who signs it.
