Statute overview

About this statute

This regulation applies to protective storage of peat as referred to in the peat protective storage act (321/2007). A written application to establish a fuel-peat reserve storage must be submitted to the National Emergency Supply Agency by the end of October in the year the peat was extracted. A reserve storage agreement must include specific terms about the stored peat, storage sites, circulation plan, and the Emergency Supply Agency’s access to records and inspections. The size of the peat stockpile is determined from its energy content using industry-approved and verifiable measurement and calculation methods, and its quality is determined according to the Nordic Innovation Centre peat fuel quality handbook or a later edition. Stored peat must be of such quality that it remains usable for the full contract period.
