Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines where a vehicle is treated as normally based, using the registration plate, insurance plate, or the holder’s permanent residence, with a special rule if the plate is false or unlawful. The Traffic Insurance Central Office must cover certain traffic damage when there is no required motor insurance or the responsible vehicle cannot be identified, and it must provide specified information and assistance on request. The insurer must issue or send a certificate about the traffic insurance within 15 days after a request, unless the insurance ended more than five years ago. The insured person is entitled to request the certificate from the insurer that granted the insurance.
