About this statute
This section says the law covers how medical examinations are arranged when police, a prosecutor, or a court requests them to investigate suspected sexual offences against children and assess resulting injuries. The unit conducting the investigation must start and carry out the investigation without undue delay, pause or postpone it if the child's health is at risk, and notify the requesting authority if it is delayed or stopped. The investigating unit may obtain case documents from the police, prosecutor, and court, and may share gathered information with them and, if needed for the child’s care, with the health-care unit responsible for the child’s mental care. Several public and health-care actors must provide necessary information on request, free of charge, despite confidentiality rules. Related records must be kept for 12 years after the person reaches adulthood, unless a longer retention period is set elsewhere.
