Statute overview

About this statute

Chapter 1: General provisions. This provision says the regulation implements Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery and Directive 95/16/EC, and sets basic health and safety requirements for machine design, manufacture, conformity marking, placing on the market, and putting into service. This provision says the regulation applies to specific technical devices, including machines, interchangeable equipment, safety components, lifting accessories, chains, ropes, webbing, detachable mechanical transmission devices, and partly completed machinery. The regulation does not apply to a listed set of machines, vehicles, equipment, and products, and special national rules can apply instead for hazards covered by another directive. This section defines key terms used in the regulation, including machine, manufacturer, and authorized representative.
