About this statute
This provision says the regulation applies to enforcing beef labeling systems under two listed EU regulations. The section lists which authorities supervise and control beef labeling. A description of the beef marking system must be attached to the operator’s self-control plan, the system must be updated, and the system records must be kept for at least two years; retailers only need to keep them for at least one year. Rules for voluntary beef labeling systems: the system description must be attached to the self-monitoring plan, the relevant authority must approve the system, and cross-border exports require prior notice to that approving authority. This section says the regulation enters into force on 1 July 2008 and repeals the 11 December 2001 Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry regulation on beef labelling (1203/2001).
