About this statute
This provision says the regulation sets technical requirements for an alcohol ignition interlock approved for supervised driving rights, and rules on its function, installation, and reading its memory. The ignition interlock device must meet specified technical standards, including an accepted minimum voltage of 7.5 volts for the section 5.2 voltage range and additional requirements tied to vehicle use timing. A conformity-certificate laboratory must be accredited, the breathalyzer tests must fall within its accredited scope and use the stated standard or an equivalent one, and supervised-driving breathalyzers must match the tested devices unless the regulation says otherwise. Alkolåset must prevent starting the car when the driver’s breath alcohol is at least 0.10 mg per liter, require breath tests during driving, and not shut off a running engine. Alkolåset ska ha ett larmsystem som stoppar fortsatt körning i vissa fall.
