About this statute

Certain health-care actors must report deaths to population records and THL, THL must forward deaths to Statistics Finland, and Statistics Finland must keep the submitted documents and data. A deceased person may be buried or transferred to a university for medical teaching or research only after the cause of death has been investigated and a burial permit has been issued. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health may issue regulations on the procedures to be followed in medical investigations into the cause of death.
