Statute overview

About this statute

The competent regional ELY Centre grants taxi permits on application, if the main operating station is within its area of operation. A taxi permit is granted to an applicant if the applicant has completed the required entrepreneur course in taxi traffic and the Traffic Safety Agency has issued a certificate of a passed entrepreneur exam, unless section 19 says otherwise. Trafiksäkerhetsverket is responsible for the course exam for taxi transport entrepreneurs, may use an outside expert, and a person who fails the exam may request rectification within 30 days of being served the decision. A taxi permit holder must operate according to the permit and, in certain rural cases, report on-call shifts to the regional authority; the authority may consent to and extend a temporary suspension of operations. The competent ELY Centre decides the taxi route schedule based on proposals from taxi permit holders, and those holders must be treated impartially.
