Statute overview

About this statute

This section assigns public health planning, guidance, and supervision to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, gives Regional State Administrative Agencies oversight in their areas, and gives Valvira a coordinating and supervisory role in certain important or multi-region matters. The supervisory authority and the regional state administrative agency may inspect municipal and joint municipal activities and related units and premises when there is justified reason; inspections may be unannounced. The police must provide assistance when needed. The supervisory authorities may issue a future warning to a municipality, joint municipal authority, or responsible official if health service organization or implementation has been incorrect or a duty has not been fulfilled. They may also simply remind the supervised party to organize the activity properly and follow good administrative practice. Appeals against such warning or reminder are not allowed.
