About this statute
The ministry oversees social welfare nationally, regional state offices handle it in their areas, and the supervisory agency directs and supervises them in certain cases. The Government may issue more detailed rules on the division of tasks and Åland task handling. A family home means a private home that provides family care after obtaining the required permit or approval. The supervisory authority and the regional state administrative agency may inspect municipal and joint municipal activities, related units and premises when there is a grounded reason; inspections may be unannounced, and police must assist when needed. The oversight authority may order deficiencies fixed, set a deadline, and if client safety requires, immediately stop the activity or prohibit use of a unit or device. The supervisory authorities may issue a future remark or give notice to the supervised body if they find faulty conduct or a failure to meet a duty in social welfare activities.
