Statute overview

About this statute

This section assigns responsibility for planning, steering, and supervising specialised healthcare to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, regional state administrative agencies, and Valvira, and allows the Government to issue more detailed rules on their division of labour. The health supervisory authority and the regional state administrative agency may inspect certain activities, units, and premises when there is grounded reason; inspections may happen without prior notice, and police must assist when needed. The health supervision authority or regional state administrative agency may order defects in specialised healthcare to be fixed, set a deadline, and, if patient safety requires, stop the activity or ban use of a unit or device immediately. Supervisory authorities may issue a warning or, in some cases, a reminder about proper conduct; no appeal may be brought against these measures.
