About this statute
The regional environmental authority may prohibit or limit motor vehicle use in certain land or ice-covered water areas to prevent harm and inconvenience. Several actors may request regional prohibitions or restrictions, and the ELY Centre must hear the affected municipality and others before issuing one. The regional ELY Centre may decide that a prohibition or restriction takes effect even if an appeal has been filed, once the decision has been notified. The appeal body may stop enforcement of the decision. This section says who must mark regional prohibitions or restrictions and where the marking may be placed. The Centre may change a decision made under section 8 if the circumstances have changed substantially or if the decision’s grounds later turn out to have differed substantially from what was assumed. When doing so, it must apply sections 9–11 as appropriate.
