Statute overview

About this statute

An annual budget appropriation is reserved for health promotion and for preventing and reducing substance use and smoking. THL must annually prepare a proposal for the allocation plan, and the ministry sets the project-specific plan. Hälsofrämjande anslag kan användas för vissa understöd och avtal; ansökningar och slutredovisningar ska lämnas till Institutet för hälsa och välfärd inom de tider institutet eller beslutet/avtalet anger. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare must annually evaluate the results and effects of activities funded by the health promotion appropriation. External experts may be used to help with the task. The Government may issue further regulations on how the health-promotion appropriation’s spending plan is prepared, what it contains, and how it is approved and implemented.
