Statute overview

About this statute

This section says the law covers the right to provide private health care services to the public. This section defines several terms used in the law, including healthcare services, service producer, and independent practitioner. Providers of health and medical services, patient transport services, and service providers must have suitable facilities, equipment, and trained staff, and the activity must be conducted properly with patient safety in mind. A service producer must have a permit from the licensing authority to provide health care services, and the permit can include patient-safety conditions. Ambulance service permits also allow transport throughout the country except Åland. Before health-care premises, equipment, and a patient transport vehicle are put into use, the service provider must present them in working condition for inspection by the health board.
