Statute overview
About this statute
The Finnish Academy has the following scientific research councils. The board and research councils meet when called by the chair or vice chair, need quorum, decide by simple majority, and the chair breaks ties. Matters are decided on presentation. The Academy decides on remuneration. The deputy director responsible for research affairs must have a doctorate or equivalent scholarly work, knowledge of research policy planning, and demonstrated leadership ability. The deputy director responsible for administration must have a higher university degree, knowledge of administrative tasks, demonstrated leadership ability, and leadership experience. The director can appoint or employ staff unless the instructions say otherwise, and a newly appointed director who previously held a permanent state post is on leave from that post while serving as director. Deputies for everyone except the Director-General are determined in the work order.
