Statute overview

About this statute

This law sets requirements for the ecological design and energy labeling of energy-related products. This law applies to energy-related products for which the European Union sets product-group-specific requirements. This section defines key terms used in the Act, including CE marking, ecodesign, energy-related products, market placing, manufacturers, importers, inspection bodies, and authorized representatives. Manufacturers or their authorized representatives must ensure energy-related products placed on the market or put into use comply with the law. If the manufacturer is not established in the EU and has no authorized representative, the importer or trader must do this instead. Energy-related products must be designed to achieve the highest possible level of environmental protection throughout their life cycle.
