About this statute

Toys are treated as meeting the mechanical and physical requirements in this law if they comply with a harmonized standard whose reference number has been published in the EU Official Journal. Toys are treated as meeting the ignition-property requirements if they meet the requirements in a harmonised standard whose reference number has been published in the EU Official Journal. Toys are treated as meeting the law’s chemical requirements if they meet a harmonized standard published in the EU Official Journal. Toys are treated as meeting the Act’s electrical requirements if they comply with a harmonized standard whose reference number has been published in the EU Official Journal. If health reasons require it, information must be given about toy risks and how to avoid them, especially for toys that may be risky for children under three. Toys meeting a harmonised age-labelling standard are deemed to comply, and the Safety and Chemicals Agency provides information on certain standard references.
