Statute overview

About this statute

This section says rules on organizing specialized healthcare and related activities are in this law, while rules on service content are in the healthcare law. A municipality that is a person's home municipality must ensure the person receives needed specialised healthcare and, for that purpose, belong to a joint municipal authority for a hospital district. Member municipalities’ councils must elect members to a joint municipal board/assembly, and the number of members depends on the municipality’s population. A hospital district covering municipalities with different languages and bilingual municipalities must have a committee for minority-language specialist healthcare and training, and its members must be chosen to represent minority-language communities.
