About this statute

Chapter 1: general provisions. The law’s purpose is to promote disabled persons’ opportunities to function as equal members of society. The provision says that disabled people living in Finland have a right to interpretation service arranged by the Social Insurance Institution (Folkpensionsanstalten). Interpretation service is arranged when a disabled person does not get sufficiently suitable interpretation under another law. This provision defines “tolkning” and “distanstolkning.”
