Statute overview

About this statute

A person placed in family care, institutional care, or supported housing outside their home municipality may choose the municipality where the unit or housing is located as their new home municipality if the care or housing has lasted, or is expected to last, over one year. People who move must notify the magistrate within the stated time limits; in some cases they must notify immediately, and a co-moving family member may file the notice for them. If a person uses the right to choose a home municipality and files the notice under 7 § 1 mom., the day the notice is received counts as the moving day.
