Statute overview

About this statute

This section says the regulation applies to the construction, equipment, and color of rescue vehicles covered by the cited vehicle law provision. A rescue vehicle must meet specified construction and equipment standards, or equivalent standards that provide the same safety level, and must operate continuously for at least four hours in temperatures from -25 °C to +35 °C. A rescue vehicle over 3.5 tonnes must be fitted with a towing device in the front and rear chassis, and the coupling and attachment must withstand a drag and push force equal to half the vehicle’s total mass. This section sets colour rules for rescue vehicles, containers and rescue trailers, including allowed red, yellow and camouflage finishes in specified cases. In rescue vehicles in category N3, the energy connections must be placed in the driver’s footwell, immediately nearby, or in the left front corner of the vehicle, and they must be protected from damage.
