Statute overview

About this statute

The law applies to workers doing work covered by the Seamen's Act, including workers on certain Finnish cargo vessels, tugboats, or push tugs mainly used in inland shipping and registered in the merchant vessel register. No early reduction is made if a worker receiving unemployment daily allowance under the additional-days rule starts old-age pension at age 62. The section says when different old-age pensions start, including ordinary, deferred, and early pensions. If a part-time pensioned worker does not apply for old-age pension after turning 68, the part-time pension is converted into an old-age pension of the same amount. If a pension or primary benefit has a one-time increase, the increased amount is used when the primary benefit is deducted.
