Statute overview

About this statute

Finanssivalvonta must cooperate with European supervisory authorities and the Joint Committee, and provide them with the information needed for their tasks, in the cases covered by EU financial market directives. Finanssivalvonnan must notify the relevant European supervisory authority in certain EU financial-markets cases, and the European supervisory authority may participate in inspections in those cases. Finanssivalvonta must send the required notifications to EU/EEA supervisory bodies and may, in certain EU directive cases, bring a disagreement before the European supervisory authority. Finanssivalvonnan must notify the competent authority of the relevant EEA State when it has justified reason to suspect certain non-supervised cross-border conduct contrary to EU financial market directives. Finanssivalvonta must notify the requesting authority of a refusal and its reasons, and in some EU-directive cases also notify the relevant European supervisory authority. It must also wait for the European Banking Authority’s decision and follow it if a foreign EEA supervisory authority refers the joint-decision matter to the EBA within two months of receiving Finanssivalvonta’s request.
