Statute overview

About this statute

This regulation covers investigations of foodborne and waterborne epidemics, and also applies to individual disease cases when the disease agent is exceptionally dangerous. This provision defines “food- and waterborne disease” and “epidemic.” Municipal food and health authorities must prepare for food- and waterborne epidemics and agree on how investigations will be organized. De kommunala livsmedels- och hälsoskyddsmyndigheterna ska tillsammans tillsätta en utredningsarbetsgrupp för epidemier. The investigation team must report suspected foodborne or waterborne epidemics to the named authorities without delay, unless everyone affected belongs to the same household and there is no special reason to report.
