About this statute
The tourist promotion agency is responsible for promoting, developing, and researching tourism to and in Finland, and for promoting Finnish tourism industries. The board must have 5 to 7 members, including one representing the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. The Government appoints the members and the chair and vice-chair, and a person employed by the central cannot be appointed as a board member. The central must have an overdirector appointed by the Government. The overdirector leads and develops the central’s work, is accountable to the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and the central’s board, and must meet stated qualification requirements. The board appoints a deputy. Överdirektören decides the cases that should be decided at the central office, unless another rule says otherwise. Centralen has a deputy director post, and its other staff may be employed under a public-service or employment contract relationship.
