Geologiska forskningscentralen is an agency under the Ministry of Employment and the Economy and is described as an impartial, non-profit expert organization independent of its customers. Forskningscentralen must conduct research and provide expert services within its area of responsibility; its operations may also be fee-based. The State Council appoints the research centre’s board members for three-year terms, the board must have 5 to 7 members, and the Ministry of Employment and the Economy sets board remuneration. Forskningscentralen has a director-general appointed by the state council, who leads and develops the agency’s activities and is responsible for results and goal achievement.
