Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines “screening” as examinations or sample-taking from the population or part of the population to identify a disease, its precursor, or disease-causing agents. This section lists the screenings included in the national screening programme. If a municipality organises screening outside the national screening programme, it must assess the screening’s impact and requirements for the health care services system before starting it. The municipality must organise screening under a заранее decided programme, include suitable quality management and quality assurance procedures, and regularly monitor and evaluate the quality of the screening process and the reliability of the screening tests. People in the screening group have a right to take part on equal terms, participation is voluntary, and the municipality must provide enough information about the screening and its risks.
