Statute overview
About this statute
Several courts must give opinions on appointments to judicial offices, each in the composition stated in the section. If a judge is to be appointed for a fixed term of at least six months, the court must declare the position open for applications before the appointment. Several court authorities may appoint judges for fixed terms, with some appointments needing a proposal and, for short fixed-term appointments, prior hearing in certain cases. Fixed-term judges must file the reports required by section 14 before appointment and while serving if the appointment lasts more than one year. Anyone proposed for a fixed-term appointment as a Supreme Court or Supreme Administrative Court member must always disclose their ties.
