Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines “credit institution activity” as taking repayable funds from the public and offering credits or other financing for own account. A credit institution is a company with the credit institution licence referred to in Chapter 3. This section defines which entities count as financial institutions. Section 20 lists exceptions to the credit institution monopoly and gives certain actors rights to receive funds or provide specified financial services; stock companies and co-operatives may also receive reimbursable funds through certain debt instruments, subject to reporting duties. Finansinspektionen kan bevilja koncession till ett kreditinstitut på ansökan. Finansministeriet får genom förordning ange vilka upplysningar som ska bifogas ansökan.
