About this statute
The provision explains when studies count as full-time studies and says study aid is not granted for studies that are entirely distance learning. Study support is available only for the period of full-time study in the situations described here, and for some other studies it may continue for up to 12 months after the regular study period ends. Students who study abroad are entitled to housing supplement on the same terms as students in Finland, and a student who studies and lives abroad is entitled to it even if another rule would otherwise block it. The supplement amount is 210 euros per month for students who study and live abroad, and the Council of State may set a different amount for low-rent countries.
