Statute overview

About this statute

State aid for shipbuilding innovations may be granted within the budget, and the aid must meet the referenced EU conditions and the State Aid Act. Statsstöd kan beviljas till vissa i Finland registrerade företag för fartygsbygge, ombyggnad och reparation samt för byggande av flytande och rörliga offshore-strukturer; stöd får inte beviljas fiskefartyg. Subsidy may be granted for first industrial applications of innovative shipbuilding products or processes, and eligible costs are limited to certain innovation-related investment, planning, design, and testing expenses. Support may be granted only if the project is in Finland, the recipient is expected to run a continuously profitable business, is not a company in difficulty, the project should be completed before the end of 2016, and the support has an incentive effect on innovation activity. This section caps innovation support at 20% of eligible costs, with a possible 30% cap for certain environmental innovations, and sets maximum total amounts for ship projects and innovative processes.
