Statute overview

About this statute

The Speaker decides whether a debate on the information is allowed, who may speak, and when the debate ends. The Conference of Speakers may decide to hold a plenary question session, and the Speaker controls who speaks and when the debate ends. The Speaker’s Conference may decide to hold a debate on a current issue, and the Speaker may close it when it has been sufficiently debated. This section points readers to other provisions that regulate how speaking rights are assigned in certain debates and question time. Talmannen may let members of parliament briefly reply to a speech, despite sections 50 and 51, and decides the order at his or her discretion.
