Statute overview

About this statute

This chapter concerns marketing and procedures in customer relationships. A trader must give consumers specified information and must get explicit consent for extra fees before a contract is made. A trader may not use a phone service that makes the consumer’s costs exceed the contract tariff or an equivalent normal tariff. The consumer is entitled to compensation if the trader breaches this rule. This chapter applies to consumer purchases from a business, orders for goods to be made, and certain auction sales of used goods are excluded. The seller must normally make the goods available for pickup at the seller’s business place, or send/transport them to the buyer if the seller had no business place connected to the purchase.
