Statute overview

About this statute

A student has the right to a safe study environment, and the education provider must prepare and apply plans for student protection and disciplinary procedures, plus school rules or other rules for the institution. A student’s duty to compensate damage caused is governed by the Damages Act. Teachers, rectors, and the education provider’s competent collegial body have disciplinary and safety-related powers over students, including suspension decisions, warnings, confiscation, inspection, and limited use of force. The education provider must promote student participation, ensure students can take part in school activities and express views on student matters, and support student bodies.
