Statute overview

About this statute

Chapter 1 is titled “Allmänna bestämmelser” (General provisions). This election ordinance applies to elections governed by Chapter 23 of the Church Law. Election authorities must take the actions needed to conduct the election at the times set in the church law or this election ordinance. A voter may use the next weekday for a deadline-based action if the original day falls on a holiday, Saturday without holiday status, or an equivalent day, and related election proceedings are postponed accordingly. Parish elections begin on the second Sunday in November during the election year, with voting ending the same day at 20:00; advance voting is allowed as provided below. The parish election board must be set up by May in the election year, and the church council must appoint a joint central election board for parish elections.
