Statute overview

About this statute

Finlands Akademi is described as a central body for research administration and as part of the Ministry of Education and Culture’s administrative branch. Akademin must promote research, develop international scientific cooperation, act as an expert body on research policy, grant funding for research and doctoral education, and carry out other science-policy expert tasks assigned by decree or the Ministry. Section 3 says the Academy is governed by a board, with board members appointed for three years and subject to qualification and term-limit rules. The Academy’s board and related bodies have defined powers over strategy, planning, funding allocation, appointments, and project selection. Akademins styrelse får besluta att flytta ett ärende till en sektion för behandling och avgörande.
