About this statute

This provision says that rules on the tasks of the National Police Board are found in other listed laws and a government decree. This section sets qualification requirements for many police service positions. The Government plenary appoints the National Police Board Police Director, the head of the Central Criminal Police, and the head of the Security Police. The Ministry of the Interior appoints the head of a police unit after hearing the Police Director. Polisstyrelsen, polisinrättningen, centralkriminalpolisen och skyddspolisen may appoint other officials in their unit, except those mentioned in 17 §, and employ staff under employment contracts. Polisstyrelsen and certain police bodies must have internal rules, and the police director-general or the relevant unit must approve them in the stated cases.
