Statute overview

About this statute

Savings banks may include in their articles a right to acquire or redeem their own foundation shares, but the articles must specify the required details. A decision on acquisition or redemption must not push the total holdings above one tenth of all shares. Sparbanken får bara dela ut vinst inom angivna belopp och får inte betala ut medel om banken är eller blir insolvent eller om kapitalbasen faller under minimikravet. A savings bank formed by a combination merger must apply for a concession, and the merger may not be registered unless the concession is registered at the same time. An account holder may terminate deposits that are partly or fully outside the deposit guarantee within six months after receiving the notice, despite the original contract terms. Final accounts must be submitted for registration under the Credit Institutions Act.
