Statute overview

About this statute

This section defines “alterneringsledighet” as a leave arrangement where an employee is temporarily released from work duties while the employer agrees to hire an unemployed jobseeker for the same period. An employee may not start alternation leave after the end of the calendar month in which they reach the relevant age limit, and the leave is subject to work-history requirements. Alterneringsledighet must last at least 100 consecutive calendar days and at most 360 calendar days in total. The leave arrangement must be agreed in advance: the periodization must be agreed before the leave starts, each period must be at least 100 calendar days, extension must be agreed two months before the agreed leave ends, and any postponed period must be agreed before that period begins. Arbetsgivaren ska ingå ett skriftligt alterneringsavtal med den alterneringslediga och lämna avtalet samt viss utredning om vikarie till arbets- och näringsbyrån i tid.
