Statute overview

About this statute

Chapter 1 covers general provisions. The law’s purpose is to promote the ability to prevent activities that could harm state security, defence, Finland’s international relations, public safety, other comparable important public interests, or highly significant private economic interests, including security arrangements protecting those interests. This section says the Act covers security investigations, what data may be used, consent and information rights, information duties, the validity and withdrawal of certificates, and register matching for checking reliability and integrity. This section defines key terms used in the Act, including security vetting of persons and companies, responsible persons, employers, authorities, companies, relatives, international information-security obligations, and classified documents. Den som vill ansöka om en säkerhetsutredning ska informera om det i annonsen eller på annat lämpligt sätt; samma gäller utbildningsanordnare och upphandlingar med företag, med vissa undantag.
