Statute overview

About this statute

Before deciding on an invalid pension, the pension institution must check whether the worker is entitled to rehabilitation and whether rehabilitation options under other legislation have been clarified. Surviving-spouse pensions are reduced by certain work-based pensions and comparable pensions, including some foreign, EU, and international-organisation pensions. Survivor pension is not reduced until the youngest child in the qualifying household turns 18. When a survivor’s pension is adjusted, the same reduction basis is used as when it was first reduced. Survivor pension must be adjusted if the surviving spouse’s circumstances change or if later pension events trigger a recalculation.
