Statute overview

About this statute

Pass applications must be filed with the police or, for certain passport types, with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs; applicants generally must appear in person and cannot file electronically, subject to stated exceptions. Polisen eller passutfärdaren får dra in ett pass; om ett pass har anmälts förlorat eller stulet utomlands får även en finsk beskickning dra in det. A withdrawn passport must be taken into custody by an authority, and the holder or possessor must hand it over on the authority’s request. An authority may also take an invalid passport for cancellation in a specific misuse situation.
