Statute overview

About this statute

The text says a sufficient connection is deemed to exist if a person aged 18 to under 22 gives written notice that they want to keep Finnish citizenship. Authorities must notify the population data system about certain citizenship-retention and service-completion events, and a record must be entered before age 22. Migrationsverket, skyddspolisen och centralkriminalpolisen may call the applicant to provide information needed to process an application or notification, and they should interview the applicant if possible.
