Statute overview

About this statute

An ombud must show a power of attorney unless the principal authorized it orally before the appeal authority; a court may let the person later produce it. Certain legal representatives only need to show it if the appeal authority orders it. An ombud may not transfer a power of attorney to someone else without the principal’s consent. Everyone must appear in court and provide requested items or documents unless another law says otherwise, but a person who may refuse to testify cannot be forced to produce confidential material for that purpose. Besvärsmyndigheten may inspect certain objects, real property, places, or other objects to investigate the case.
