Statute overview

About this statute

Chapter on procedures for customer transactions. Deposit banks must offer basic payment accounts, payment services, and electronic identification services to legally resident EEA persons, treat customers equally, decide basic-account applications within 10 banking days, and may refuse or close accounts only on stated grounds. A credit institution must provide consumers with account switching services. A credit institution must give consumers specified account-switching information free of charge, cannot charge for certain listed items, and must compensate consumers for direct economic damage caused by neglect of its duties unless an exceptional uncontrollable event applies. Det mottagande kreditinstitutet måste, efter konsumentens fullmakt, samordna överföringen av konto- och betalningsuppgifter och vidta flera åtgärder inom fasta bankdagstider.
