Statute overview

About this statute

This provision says the regulation sets out the detailed rules under the Pilotage Act for pilot certificates, line pilot certificates, dispensations, and special requirements for organizers of pilot examinations. To get a pilot steering permit, the applicant must have completed the required training trips, meet the minimum trip count, and the trips and pilot exam must be completed within the 12 months before the trial piloting. A pilot licence may be renewed for up to five years if the applicant meets the stated renewal conditions and shows the required proof. A pilot certificate must record the waterways covered by the applicant’s pilotage right and the certificate’s validity period. A person applying for a line pilot certificate must show the required navigation experience certificate and, for the relevant vessel type, meet the specified trip counts and timing rules.
